Influenced by the Transcendental Painting Group, sand mandalas, and the subcultural aesthetics of rave, Smashing Games, Alexandros Vasmoulakis’ new solo exhibition, juxtaposes handmade wallpaper installations with paintings on canvas and board, and combines them with debris from monumental carnival sculptures creating an aggregate that builds on the discourse on the fluidity of consciousness. Vasmoulakis (b. 1980) studied in the Athens School of Fine Arts and the UMPRUM Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.
