Royal Jarmon (b. Sacramento, 1986) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Jarmon has spent years educating himself on art history and painting and developing his practice. His work has been included in shows at The Hole, NYC and Castor Gallery, LA. Royal Jarmon’s paintings exaggerate perspectives and forms, while distorting commercial ordinary objects. By saturating colours he creates a vibrant alteration of a flattened reality. This spatial perspective depicts social culture, consumption and leisure, as popular expressions of everyday life. His paintings and sculptures shift back and forth between realism and psychedelia. By blending these two contradictory elements, the abstracted objects portrayed in his paintings seem explosive.
